Google Classroom has been available for a few weeks now, and while it’s admittedkt lacking in features, we’ve been intrigued by Google’s VLE alternative.

We’ve been trailing Google Classroom with our teachers and while the overall opinion is very positive, there are a few changes and bug fixes that would make using Classroom even simpler:

  1. More control over the classroom wall is needed. At the moment it’s too easy for students to post spam comments.
  2. If an assignment is not due within the week, it doesn’t show up on student’s assignments. All assignments, no matter the date, should really show up.  The only way the students are able to access the assignments is by scrolling down on the wall, and these can easily be buried.
  3. There needs to be an easier way for students to access their previous assignments.
  4. If a teacher invites ‘Students’ to the classroom, should it really ask them if they are a teacher when they sign up?
  5. We need to be able to assign multiple teachers to a class.
  6. Students need to be enrolled automatically to a class to prevent them rejecting the invitation.
  7. Integration with Google Sites would be great.
  8. The ability to create custom gradings is essential.
  9. A way to create a Google Sheet with results would be useful.
  10. When work is returned for improvement, Classroom should be able to record a history so the teacher can see the previous mark and add a new mark.
  11. When I create an assignment, I love that I can distribute it across many classes.  However, I cannot seem to set the grading at this point and instead have to go into EVERY class, click on the assignment and change the grading from here.
  12. Google still hasn’t fixed the issue preventing teachers inviting a Google Group to a class.
